February 2008

Samantha (our niece) & Michael

Well, February is almost over. Wasn't it just Christmas? It's true what they say - - Time flies when you get older - - Oh wait. That's not what they say. It's "Time flies when you're having fun." So I guess we're having fun. We did last night, anyway.

Our nephew, Brandon got married to a very sweet girl he's been dating for a couple of years - Tarah. Tarah has been family for years before last night. We all adore her, & she & Brandon are so perfect for each other. The wedding was at the Sunridge Canyon Golf Club in Fountain Hills. What a gorgeous setting! Rose petals all over the green grass, a lake, mountains, & perfect weather.

By the way, it's true what they say about drinking alcohol & a hangover: If you drink as much water as you do alcohol through the course of the night, you won't wake up with a headache. I had 4 Jack Daniels & more than 4 glasses of water & a Coke. No headache at all today. I'm worried about my sister Cathy, though. I don't think she was drinking water!

Last night Alex wore the suit he wore for his bar mitzvah, & I believe it will be the last time he'll be able to wear it. The pants were just barely long enough. He's growing like a weed. And he's not anywhere near finished! We can't figure out where he's getting his height. There are no tall people on either side of our families - our moms' or our dads'. But I guess that's a good thing since he loves playing basketball more than anything. (He is so handsome). People joke about who his father really is. I even wonder who his mother is!

Brandon's sister, my niece Samantha will be getting married in September to Michael. It's good that we have felt like Tarah & Michael were already family. What great additions to our family! I can't imagine 2 better people joining the family.

It's Sunday now (2/24). Lewis & Alex are at the Suns game. Wanted to see Shaq - at least once. Tickets are sold out so Lewis had to get the tickets on eBay. Alex was very excited. So while they are gone today, this will be a clean-up day for me. The sooner I can finish taking care of some things, the sooner I can sit down with my book & relax. It's just Sparky & me today. I even made the guys breakfast this morning. Yes, me ! And they didn't complain about my food.

We've got a couple of plays coming up in March: "The Full Monty" which we are going to with Lewis's parents; & "Arsenic & Old Lace." Looking forward to both.

Alex is all registered at Chaparral High School to start in August. He's signed up for Student Government & basketball already & his classes. He'll be taking guitar too. That, in addition to his regular guitar lessons should help him along. After seeing Eddie Van Halen at the concert in November he's really gotten into guitar.

Oh, almost forgot -- Alex has braces now. They can do cool things with them now. They are clear braces & the kid can pick the wire color. Everytime he goes in he can have the wire color changed. Right now he has black wires. (I don't know why.) The next time he goes he said he might get the clear wires on. You won't be able to see his braces at all then. A friend of his got orange wires one year around Halloween. No, no one gets silver anymore. The kids don't seem to mind having braces like they did when I was growing up. Seems to be more of a fashion statement these days. (Did you notice how I just said "these day"? Just like an old person ! I guess it was bound to happen.)

Here are a few pictures from Brandon's wedding. One of them is my 2 sisters & me.

Until next time - - Hugs!
